Dr. Sir,

I must beg the favour of you to
see Mrs. Minor as She passes through Fred.sburg
with the intention of visiting the Springs for the ben=
efit of her health -- I have had my fears of a
disease fastening on the lungs and altho she is
much mended, is still very far from progressing
much -- Early in may last, she then enjoying
the most perfect health imprudently exposed herself
to several showers of rain whilst setting flower plants
in the garden and did not change her dress -- At this
time she was giving suck to an infant in his eighth
month and in March & April there was a return of
the Catamenia slightly -- this was the time for her
to expect its reestablishment judging by her other chil=
dren -- a day or two after getting wet she felt a
lancinating pain shooting through her right side into
the shoulder -- this came on by fits and would be very
severe for a few minutes & then leave her easy - at these
times the pulse would be hard and excited -- this was the
time to have acted, but no entreaties would suffice for her
to suffer the lancet, and she by degrees got something better
except a dry and troublesome cough -- about the 20th. Jun [e]
she returned from a visit in the country on a rainy day

[and] was taken in the evening with bilious fever and was
confined to her bed a week -- I now used the lancet
and she was blistered -- after getting about she appeared
better except a most troublesome cough -- she now
continued to fluctuate between better &worse untill the
last of July when the pain returned - & now in the space
of ten days she was bled three times observed a proper
regimen and had a considerable eruption produced
between the shoulders by Tartar Emet Ointment -- These
means entirely removed the pain and she expectorated
easily - but the cough continuing obstinate with a
slight tightness occasionally she has been gently mercu=
rialised within the last fortnight -- You will now
see how she is -- The Catamenia's being interrupted we
must regard as Sympathic -- She has only weaned her
Infant a fortnight -- I now ask you to have the
goodness to prescribe - and whether she should proceed
on to the springs -- If you think the springs would be
injurious she will return to the Grove - but if you think
it would not militate against her breast affection
and might improve her general health she will pass
on - but tho she might not be injured by the springs would
she be as likely to mend at my fathers -- Ought she not
now to take in addition to other medicines some emmena=
gogue-- Having no doubt but you will give her
[unclear] few moments attention she leaves home without med=
[icines o]f any Kind --- --- Please present my best
