D Sir

My disease appears to be checked, but not removed, and
my bowels are in a very unsettled state - no matter what I eat, it
passes through me [without] assumming the natural forms & gripes me slightly -
the red discharge, with a slight covering of a pale white, returned
upon me once yesterday [without much pain] & again this morning, in very small quantity -
Do come & see me & get me on my legs again as I am worn out
with solitude & inaction - send me by the bearer the seidlitz powder
you said I might take this morning & let me [know] whether lemonade will
be improper for me & the use of milk at my meals -

St L L Carter
