Salem, 23rd Feb.
Dr. Sir,
My wife seems more indis
posed today, in consequence (as I sup=
pose,) of not having her bowels acted
upon by the Crem: Tart: which she has
taken before you came out. Injecti=
ons were used - but with very little
effect. This morning I gave her some
Glaub:Salts in broken doses - all together
a heaping table spoonful: but it has
not operated. Injections have been
used to assist it - but as yet with=
out effect. Her fever is rather more
considerable - but she does not com=
plain of her head: Her back & loins
are still uneasy. Her thirst consi=
derable & her tongue dry & rather
hard- though not furred.
-
I should have preferred giving Oil
to Salts: but she scarcely ever re=
tains it on her stomach. I am
fearful of giving her more cathar-
tic medicine on account of her
weakness. I shall be glad if it
will suit you to come out to=
morrow.Yours, Respecfully,
Addison M. Lewis
